Welcome! I am Dr Hurst, founder of Fortitude therapy. I have over 10 years experience of combining the best of psychological research and therapy to help people lead the life they hoped for.

We know so much about how to look after our physical health, what to eat, what excercise to do and think nothing about visiting our GP. What about our emotional health? What do we do to build our resilience in the good times and the bad?

In the same way that we look after our physical health, therapy isn't just for those who have had a diagnosis, or received previous support. It is also for those people who want to lead a richer and even more meaningful life. For those who want to increase their resilience when they face challenges. Those who want to overcome the thoughts, feelings and behaviours which threaten to hold them back.

Whether you are feeling increasingly anxious, adjusting to loss, struggling with a relationship or dealing with difficult things which have happened to you, giving yourself the gift of therapy can make a difference. Let's talk!

Services I Offer

With You Every Step of the Way

Initial consultation and therapy plan

I can provide you with a comprehensive consultation which will enable us to begin to understand your situation and  your hopes. I can then tailor a therapy plan for you, based on what the field of psychological research has discovered, to assist you with moving towards a life which feels more meaningful, or less distressing. Throughout the therapy experience I am keen to continue to seek your feedback to make the process what you need it to be.

If we have not spoken yet, contact me on the button below and I will get in touch within the next 48 hours.

Therapy sessions

Therapy involves sitting together in a private space talking about whatever thoughts, feelings and actions are causing you distress, or preventing you from living the kind of life you hope for.

All our communication is confidential. I generally make notes during the session that you are welcome to see. Some people want to bring a friend or family member to their first session for support and that is fine too.

You are welcome to ask questions about any treatment or intervention I propose, or about my qualifications, accreditation and experience, which I will attempt to answer.

Therapy can feel challenging, a bit like climbing a mountain as it takes commitment and energy to see change. However, the new view will be worth it!
